Wall-E
« on: September 25, 2008, 12:27:46 am »
New Pixar movie, great fun! Robots in love story turns space adventure.

Some scenes are a bit corny (well, family movie...), but I really enjoyed watching. Awesome design, amazing how much feelings the animators are able to express with a robot that basically a smooth white cone shape with LED eyes.

Me, Ahk, Emptyy and Grilly(+ to vaginamonsters) saw this last week. It was a bit dull in the beginning, wasn't really sure what kind of movie it was.

But boy, guess this is one of the best Disney movies in years. Might've dropped a tear in that cinema.

what am i doing here :]

That movie was not the best of Pixar maybe. But the most sensitive one. There are 2 hard messages :
So 1st. "Protect the Earth" :]

2. Don't spend too much time on your LCD's. Get some rest, at least keep an eye on the environment while playin WoW :]

You should watch this one. There are no lot of good movies on theaters. So this one deserves your attention.  :-*

I really liked this movie.  It's definitely a 'family' movie, as in all the family will enjoy it, rather than the classic disney kids movie, which make me cringe.

I agree on the 'well animated' part, but i'm not really surprised that they managed to pull off so many different expressions; there's a lot you can do with near-human facial features, head movements and general body language.

OMG!

This was totally awesome. Blew me away. What a pleasant surprise.

Hilarious, sensitive, fantastically realised and animated... damn Pixar!

Did you guys notice Wall-E's boot-up noise is the same as the original Apple II? :)

Very very cool.

Ah.. might have to actually take a look.

Id say it should be more a must rather than a might.  :D

Its a very different story than other Pixar movies. There is very little dialogue in the beggining, everything is explained with movements and emotion. Not an easy thing to pull off.

Im saying this becuase I watch alot of short animations that have no dialogue and sometimes die of boredom. But Wall-e is a different story.

Not sure, but it's the boot-up noise.

A kind of vocal chorus thing...

I was looking on Google for it, but alas, I couldn't find it, and now I need to eat.

The film contains numerous references to Apple computers: -when WALL-E is fully charged by the sun, he makes the same "boot up" sound that most of Apple's Macintosh computers have made since circa 1996. -WALL-E watches his favorite movie every night on the screen of an iPod -The villainous Autopilot's voice is provided by Apple's text-to-speech system, MacinTalk -EVE's sleek design as an evolution of WALL-E's parallels the sleek iMac design having evolved from the boxy, beige Apple IIe. Steve Jobs, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Apple Computer, was CEO of Pixar until its acquisition by Disney in 2005, and as a shareholder and member of the Disney Board of Directors is still actively involved with the company.

Damn, i feel sorry for myself that i didn't watch this earlyer, it totally woke up the good memories of old animated stuff like toy story and such. Kept me going from the beggining till the end, a bit dull at the start, but then again making everything clear in the first minutes doesn't really set a stage for a good movie :)

I don't often watch animated cartoons, but looks like i should, i've enjoyed this very much :)
