im really considering buying an asus eee pc1000h. its extremely portable, got 6 cell battery for long usage, and is in the right price range. as mentioned earlier, i will not use this laptop to game on, it will be mostly just writing in word for school, and surfing.

only question is, is 10" too small? the keyboard is apparently about 95% of a generic keyboard, so typing on it will be easy.

Well, if you want to use a netbook (small laptop) then I'd recommend you don't use one with Xp. They're just damn slow, and not made for it. Try one with linux, they're awefully fast, and can still do the stuff you need them for.

The asus eee is running on a linux afaik?

Anyway, I have an asus laptop.

It's two years old, but it's excellent for gaming/multimedia. As far as I know they kept making newer versions of these laptops, so if you want to have the option to game on it, then I'd recommend checking asus out.

Just delete the xp system and install Linux xD atleast I was told, once you get use to Linux you will be raelly happy about it. Although if you buy it you should be happy its not vista atleast :P But not sure how it will run on such a small laptop, guess Inphy know best. 10" screen I would say is raelly small.. on the other hand, for typing and writing the "zoom" function is discovered, so guess you can avoid the problem of horrible small text and reading, but I would never go below 15" my self, tryed a friends apple lite with its horrible 9" screen.. Handy yes.. really small.. yeah.. go to a store and try go to the internet or something on something close to 10" screen, guess that is really the only way to find out if it soothes you or not.

Im looking at netbooks (again) since finding a decent 15" notebook seems daunting. Im currently looking at 3 different netbooks:

LG X110
Asus EEE pc1000H
MSI Wind

They all got virtually the same specs, 10" screens. The biggest difference is battery, where 1000H is the only one with 6 cell battery. They all cost around 400 euro, and come with 1gb ram and a 1.6ghz cpu and 160gb hdd.

Picture time!

LG X110 3990SEK (399 euro)

Asus EEE pc1000H 3990SEK (399 euro)

MSI Wind 4490SEK (449 euro)

Personally I think the MSI Wind wins the design war.

will probably wait until closer to christmas to see what comes out. dell mini 12 will probably not reach sweden until 2009 :/

seems like ive been actively looking for a laptop for well over a year before deciding...

anyways, tnx god i love finally having one. now i can watch ... hockey, in the bathroom! i also dont need to use my 10m extention cable anymore to hear what you guys say on vent when i go to pee.

yes im a slow-tech dude.

asus ul30vt ftw (heres a quick review: http://www.expertlaptopreview.com/?p=386 mine's gray matte metallic though, less fingerprints!)

edit: btw, anyone know if its possible to completely reset sharing properties in windows 7? i seem to have messed it up on my stationary, i cant use certain programs cause they dont have access(?) to certain user files.

As I was saying earlier on vent... what's the point in a laptop if you, like... never go anywhere.

I presume it's for taking notes at university or something?
Now I run a tech website.

That Asus looks like a really nice buy and that guy gave it an amazing review, might have to pick up a netbook for University at some point.
