well graxlos that post was aimed to leg not to you. But keep in mind that having wrong ideas are much more destructive than having no ideas at all. Maybe not in Denmark but in more hot spots.

Cwave I guess you haven't really listen your history lessons. States are the reason behind most "evil" things that happened in world. Having a rich and powerful machiavellist State with a big army is a danger to all; even to its own citizens. Well you don't have to go back too much just look at My lai massacre, communist hunt, annexation of hawai, korean invasion, afgan invasion and first and second Iraq invasions.

and Goza you are right. Did you ever noticed that there are lots of muslim warlocks ? Seeing that pattern is not so hard.

You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

In the UK too.  Sadly proven to be a fallacy by Mythbusters!

I fucking love Mythbusters!

I had a brief chat with my old Games lecturer from university...

Here's the actual original document that this is based on:
http://www.fas.org/irp/dni/datamining.pdf

Basically the article is a bit too sensationalist... but it is Legin, after all :)
The actual document is your basic rhetoric of people who trust themselves as much as they trust the enemy -- a very dangerous state to be in!

As Cwave said, being brainwashed to be a child soldier is along the same lines as being brainwashed by sensationalist Internet freedom warrior viral content too.

A good middle stand, open to each and every viewpoint, is where an educated and well-nurtured person should be. Sadly, that good education, and good nurture, are lacking :)
Now I run a tech website.

Ouch having ideas is more destructive than having none.
I really dislike that statement, and I do somewhat disagree.
1. What is the wrong ideas? Who gets to choose?
2. What happens if we just dont care and dont get involved, then others will choose what is right and then who knows where shit will end up.

I think delling put it well but I find it important too that every person do actually take a bit of time to read newspapers see the news etc. Perhaps the news are biased by Rupert Murdoch and perhaps Youtube is biased by hippies. But you really have to follow whats happening to form a useful opinion.

Bears like alts!

"lets call uglier people uglings and kill them all because their ugliness is the source of all evil" "Not ugly ppl killed us lets kill them back"
"Counter revolutionary  is danger to all, they will invade our country with their burgoise flower pots and colorful clothes lets round them up and force them to work at farms"
"Well I found something lets take all of their food so they can't rebel against us"
"They should be mad only mads can't agree with me lets put all of them to siberia"
Those are wrong ideas.(although I kinda overdo it :), it is Rwanda, China, Soviet ukraine and Russia under soviets)

Other than that we lack real information about political and economical events. The things that look so simple could be complicated or they can be misinformations. You can fuck up another thing by correcting something. and other than that political "science" can't predict events or what will happen afterwards because there are too many factors that can't be tested. Main cause of events -namely human behaviour and economy- are the most unpredictable topics humans encountered, because they can't be left alone to analyze. Thats why people talk about events after they happened. it is kinda random, you can kill terorist and stop the suicide bombings or more people can be terrorist after they see others die at the hand of your state which justifies their ideology.

Yes I dislike that statement to but that doesn't mean it can't be right.

P.S. I thought data mining means ignoring or forcing your data to prove your hypothesis :D at least thats what it means in my Research class :P

Because its done by the federal goverment of a country that does whatever it wants and persuades other countries, including the one you live in, to do exactly the same or follow their example

Okay, let me put it in math then: It's going to take at least one person per 100 players to monitor WoW if you wanted to look at each and every person playing as a potential terrorist, I'd think. So that'd mean that the big old evil us would need what, 100k people to monitor every WoW player objectively?

The "worst" they can do is to leach in conversations, filter for keywords, (zomg, we're all in danger, especially nach who will soon be v&) and then look at stuff. Hardly something I do care about, it's not like my WoW chat is my own property (it is Blizzards).

Countries generally do what they want to, with an evaluation of cost vs. benefit. This happens for every country in the world, so why shouldn't the US do whatever it wants to, if it can? I wouldn't give a shit if the US kept a spy satellite trained on my house 24/7, to monitor me. I know it'd be a waste of time, sure, but it's their problem, not mine...
Feral, a class of its own.

The whole idea of this project is that they don't need even 1 person to monitor it, they analyse your average Joe playing (x100000) and then have a computer program detect what it thinks falls into terrorist-like activity.  Anything that program throws up as suspicious gets another look.

Well they'll just put you in a secret CIA prison and hold a secret military trial without a lawyer where you can be sentenced to death if they deem that you are a terrosist. The funny thing is, that despite it is against their own constitution and international law, its legal because they made it so. This is what happens when countries do whatever they want, and I'm pretty sure Starbrow wouldn't mind that at all...secret prisons are fun from what I've heard
