Hope civ 4 is faster to play multiplayer then civ2 ever was.
Good multiplayer games took ages :)

Anyway to arrange similair starting points nowadays?
Nothing was more irritating then to start in the mountains, just to find out your oponent started next to the sea with a whale, fruit and a river in one spot.

Anyway HF!

You should probably start with a really short game tbh.  Test the waters a bit.  Maybe 50 turns or something?  Just to see if people can manage the time.

5 turns per day will mean me coming home from work to find my empire in ruins! I think 120 turns is needed for a decent game though.

I think something like

We start out with a 2 hour session to get the game going, maybe 40 turns or so.
Play another ~50 turns at 12 hour intervals.
Then all get online together for the final ~30 turns (as the later turns will take longer).
Oh God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"
Abe says, "Man, you must be puttin' me on"
God say, "No."
Abe say, "What?"
God say, "You can do what you want Abe, but the next time you see me comin' you better run"
Well Abe says, "Where do you want this killin' done?"
God says, "Out on Highway 61"

Well that's why I asked if we can change turn timers throughout the game...!

But yeah, if we do the early turns together then it doesn't matter quite so much. I just don't want to spend a month on the first 50 turns :)
Now I run a tech website.
