Dipsy - Disc PVP Application
« on: March 07, 2011, 01:59:19 pm »
About Me

Hi Iron Edge, my name is Joe but in-game I'm known as Dipsy. I am currently on a gap year, working part-time while I wait to take up a place at university in the Autumn.
Since I only work part-time, I find I have many hours to whittle away surfing the net and playing games. Although the main game I play is by far WoW, I also am an avid fan of FPSs (I used to play CS:S, UT, BF2 religiously), and can't wait to play Portal 2. On top of all the mega hardcore leet gaming I do 25 hours a day, I also am really interested in films (my favourite film is Dog Day Afternoon).
My character link: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/dunemaul/dipsy/simple

My WoW History

I started playing WoW at the end of October '09, and went straight into proper raiding when ICC came out, where I raided with Rigor Mortis and then Callous on a mage. It was only at the end of ICC when the content had just got boring that I leveled up a priest and started to take an interest in PVP - up until then I had just done arena for points or played bgs for fun and achievements.
When Cataclysm hit I decided I wanted to have my priest as my main, as I had fallen in love with it - in particularly, discipline spec. And from all the videos I had watched on warcraft movies (in particular Hydra's), I really wanted to focus on PVP, because I wanted to what rated BGs would be like, as well hopefully make a good impression in the arena world with the arrival of a fresh new season!

Arena History

I started off pre-patch playing discipline, mostly just for points while i farmed for honour with an arms warrior in 2v2. We managed to get to 1.7 which I was quite pleased with  considering I could be killed in 3 hits by all the warrior and feral teams that were making the most of their overpowered state. Finally the patch came, and discipline was super strong, and I managed to find a frost mage partner to play 2v2 with seriously. We worked our way up to 2.1 mmr, gaining hot streak (and the mage got hotter streak) on the way, and I reached a personal rating of 2068 before we eventually grew tired of every team being rdruid/rsham/dk comps!
At this point we decided to find a rogue for some RMP, to aim for a decent rating (2k to start with, then try to push for 2.2). We found a rogue who was great to play with and seemed perfect, so started 3v3 right away, and earlier today our team and all three of us hit 2.2k rating.

I know that this history literally only spans about a month in total, so I don't consider myself a pro or experienced per say, as there is still so much I can learn about different comps and setups and even the different brackets (my next goal is to push for 2.2 in 2s and then 2k in 5s), not to mention perhaps even tips on playing priest. This is one of the reasons why I chose to apply to Iron Edge; being one of the oldest and most thriving communities in the game, it gives me the chance to learn from players who have significantly better experience than me, and even play alongside them in BGs and maybe arena.

Why IE?

As I wrote in Arena History, I still in my eyes (and perhaps I am my worst critic) have a lot to learn in arena, and also about the game in general - I love hearing stories from what it was like in Vanilla and TBC, so I couldn't think of a more wizened guild on Dunemaul to learn from. From the members I've met and spoken to it seemed like a guild that had a brilliant balance of PvE and PvP, covering all aspects of the game and from my own investigating by visiting your site and reading forum threads it has a community that is larger than just WoW which is an added bonus for me as there is more to life than one game!

Thankyou for your time,
Joe

You managed to get those two to 2.2? Should get an invite just for that.

But tell me, does it worth?

I haven't seen any of these players before (although spetsnaz rings a durotard bell).

Application looks good, what do you think about Rated Battlegrounds in their current state and in the upcoming pach 4.1? You want to play them?

Heya, currently I've only done one rated bg, I have tried to do more but the guilds I was in had no interest in PVP, and the two pug groups of durotar players I joined fell apart when people left half way through queuing. I'd love the chance to play RBGs properly as I like the bg maps (the small ones anyway), and it would be great to play them when they are purged of people who have just dinged, or are in full pve gear farming pvp gear etc.

Hi, mage was called Junebug - I recognize your name from Rigor Mortis. It's still geared to raid but I want my priest as my main so I haven't applied for a raid spot or anything on it, although I will happily raid in a 10man on it if someone hasnt shown up and needs a dps.

WASAAP YAL... KUN here.
where do I start... Dipsy is 4 thumbs up (do big toes count as thumbs too?)
my history with this guy... First time i duelled him he /w me... he was like "wtf are u doing?". From that point on it was tuff love man... one of the few real good players that actually got on me for not knowing my ass form my elbow but then stuck around and schooled me on what i needed to do to beat a priest. honestly guys, not a lot of dudes would be willing to pick up on someone they dont know and work them into a killing machine. But im just trying to say he is a good guy with skills to back it up. Proof is in da pudding and da pudding taste like an angel pissing on your tongue. (dutch expression) Back me up Therash.. actually i never got that expression... It basically means that and angel from heaven pissing on your tongue is associated with some of the best tastes in the world... i dont know abou that.. (i have a friend angel and if he pissed on your tongue i think it would taste like ass.. no literally but i mean disgustingly)

You know i had to find a black thumb to rep all the IE afropower dudes.
