Raider Application - Demon Hunter (DPS) - Lewigi
« on: April 24, 2020, 11:39:16 pm »
Hello, Iron Edge!

I am applying for the main raid.

Character: Lewigi
Armory: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/eu/Kazzak/Lewigi
Class/Spec: Demon Hunter (DPS)
Member Type: Raider

Personal Info:

Hey, my name is Lewis/Lew. 28 years young and living in sunny England. Work in the ever exciting commercial business insurance industry (it's not exciting). Work a typical 9-5 mon-fri office life but currently working from home due to corona lock down wooo! Means it's impossible to be late for anything that involves WoW really.

Class/Spec:

Currently maining a Havoc DH and have done since starting BFA and raiding in Uldir. Only started playing WoW towards the end of Antorus/Legion where I played Frost DK. Didn't enjoy the lack of mobility on the class so the only logical choice for more mobility was DH. Very rarely spec into Vengeance but I have done occasionally to help friends in m+ but I've never tanked higher than 10s. Havoc ilvl is between 474-477 depending on gear and Vengeance is roughly the same.

Stats: Vers + Crit are priority, with haste coming up 3rd after those. Avoid mastery at all costs. Haste can jump in priority for some encounters that are pure single target (stacking infinite stars on Shad'har for example, more haste helps there). Rotation wise, immo aura at 2 seconds on pull timer, pot at 1 second, fel rush in, eyebeam for the triple furious gaze haste boost followed by death sweep. After that pop meta and repeat with eyebeam and death sweep on CD and annihilation when in meta. Repeat blade dance/chaos strike/eyebeam when ready. DH rotation is fairly simple and obviously fury management/demonic appetite souls play a large part in the DPS for DH.

Alts:

Boomkin at 445 and WW monk at around 445 but wouldn't call them relevant right now.

Professions:

Currently have engineering and alchemy. Engineering was for the ilvl helm until I got a 480 piece but also use the battle rezz in m+ and alchemy for the extended flask time.

Raiding Experience:

Only started raiding right at the end of legion where I got up to the coven sister's (HC) before the expansion ended. BFA - Uldir curve, BoD curve and 3/9M, crucible of storms curve, EP curve and 4/8m and now in Nya I'm curve and 5/12M.
I've always raided as DPS and majority of my time I've been a raider in guilds. I did raid lead for a HC guild in EP but then wanted to push properly into mythic and left to join a guild raiding at a mythic level.

Previous Guilds:

Coalessence- Kazzak. Joined them in EP where I got to 4/8M with them and transitioned into the final tier for this expansion. Hit curve and pushed to 5/12M with them for this tier. I've decided to leave as progression slowed down dramatically and a lot of raiders also choosing to leave the guild steadily due to the progress slowing. I'm wanting to push as far as I can into mythic raiding both now and future expansions and have my sights set firmly on CE.

Availability:

At the moment, all the time due to lock down in the UK. Even when there is no lock down I make sure I do not have any plans on the dedicated raid days of the guild I'm in. When I finish work it takes me a maximum of 1 hour to get home so I'd be online for 6pm UK/7pm server time.
No holidays planned (RIP corona), no exams and work wise I'm working from home as stated earlier.

Communication:

I'm English so it's my main (and only :( ) language. I have TS3 installed but haven't used it in years due to the popularity of Discord. I have a microphone and confident in speaking when needed to in raids/m+

Computer / Connection:

Yes my computer is strong enough to run WoW on high graphic settings as well as having background apps running at the same time. No FPS issues in many many months.
Stable internet, just changed ISP about 2 weeks ago to make sure that it's strong connection and no issues since changing, worth the extra £££££ that I spent switching. Also no ping issues on Kazzak, been on this server for around 5 months now and never had problems.

Addons/UI:

https://prnt.sc/s5h8ru - Hopefully that UI screen shot works. Also always looking for advice and tips on how to improve my UI too.
Addons: WA, DBM (happy to swap to bigwigs if that's what you use), exorsus raid tools, angry assignments, Elvui, MDT. RCLootCouncil. Again, also happy to install any addons that are mandatory for your raids.

Other Games:

Currently just WoW and occasionally XCOM2, also just bought the new XCOM Chimera Squad which is pretty fun.

Why Iron Edge?

Iron Edge seems to be the type of guild that wants to push for CE every tier but remain relaxed, chilled and non-toxic while doing so. Also the huge amount of focus you have on building a community goes a long way in what I'd like from a guild. I've been to a guild meet up a few years ago in one of my earlier HC raiding days and it was definitely fun.
I think this guild would definitely help me achieve everything I'm looking for personally in WoW which is to achieve CE, join a strong community and have a laugh while doing the content.

What can I offer Iron Edge?

I guess you hear this all the time but obviously punctuality is a big thing that I would offer, commitment to improving every pull regardless of how good or bad my performance was on any previous fight. I think even somebody who parses at 100% and hits rank 1 DPS world wide can still look to improve in someway and I believe in that mentality for myself, I can always do something better. Positive attitude is something I have, whether it's wiping 200 times to one boss or being put on a very boring task in an encounter, if it needs to be done I won't shy away from it.

Where did I hear about Iron Edge?

Wowprogress!

Last Words?

I know you've declined a lot of DH's from when I've looked at past applications but I thought I'd give the application a shot cos you never know what might happen! Hopefully you fancy giving me a shot but if not then there's no hard feelings!

Hey Lewis,
Thanks for applying. I appreciate the effort you've put in. As it stands i'm very happy with the demon hunter presence in the team, so I will be declining the application at this stage. However, with the new expansion on the horizon, we'll ofcourse be looking for new talent so hopefully the rest of this tier will provide valuable experience for you. Should you wish to, you're more than welcome to reapply for Shadowlands.
Until then I wish you all the best for the remainder of the tier!

- Shimmar
