Raider Application - Warlock (DPS) - Tarpzo
« on: March 15, 2022, 09:14:33 pm »
Hello, Iron Edge!

I am applying for the main raid.

Character: Tarpzo
Armory: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/eu/Kazzak/Tarpzo
Class/Spec: Warlock (DPS)
Member Type: Raider

Personal Info:

My name is Rob, 30 years old living in Middlesbrough, England. I work as a Train Driver based out of York driving across the North of England. I am a father to a 2 year old boy and will be getting married this year in Mexico.

Class/Spec:

Demonology, currently 253 the night before reset so hoping for that to bump up with the chest! I have tried Affliction which was fun, once the spec receives a bit more love i may return to it one day.

As with most classes Ilvl is currently king for the increased Intellect, following that i'm after haste > mastery.
The rotation requires setting up for the very best demonic tyrant you can land, ensuring you are micro managing cooldowns of demons to try to sync up without holding the CD of tyrant for too long to make the best use out of the legendary (wilfreds). The imp tracker WA i recently found has been a life saver in getting impactful implosions off!

Alts:

Only recently became an alt as i tanked throughout previous tiers but Trapszo 60 - Prot warrior
stingyfogbl 60 resto shaman
robzo 60 sub rogue

Professions:

Alchemy for the improved flask time, all secondary professions are levelled on alts.
No special recipes i'm afraid

Raiding Experience:

I initially played the game throughout Burning Crusade and managed to get halfway through Tempest Keep with a fairly casual guild at the time. I then just floated in and out of playing the game throughout the next expansions before really deciding to try raiding again towards the end of BFA.
I joined a new guild at the beginning of shadowlands as a tank and cleared Castle Nathria 10/10 Hc 4/10M, then moved into Sanctum of Domination 10/10Hc 4/10M (Missed the night where we killed soulrender and we got Painsmith to 7% before christmas break ruined the guilds momentum). Currently 7/10N in Sepulcher
I was main tank throughout the two previous raids, particularly vocal as an 'assistant' raid leader, helping with shoutouts for timers where needed to give people a heads up.

Previous Guilds:

The Many Few - Guild i joined towards the end of BFA who helped me getting back into raiding and up to speed with the mechanics as i joined their social raiding team to fill numbers towards the end of the XPAC
Renown - Most recent guild i've been apart of since the beginning of Shadowlands. These guys really ignited my passion for raiding and thoroughly enjoyed my time there, unfortunately since the 7% painsmith wipe and the christmas break we've just lost too many numbers and the guild leader and raid leader have both lost the passion they had during SoD, and have recently decided to officially end raiding as a guild.

Availability:

I'll be completely honest, this is the section i was dreading completing the most. As stated earlier i work as a train driver so my shifts vary, this has led to me missing many raids with my previous guild which while i was main tank was very rough to say the least, this is the main reason why i shifted roles from tank to DPS as it was much easier to replace me should work become an issue.
I do get a shift rota so will know my availability 3 months in advance, my shifts never change so once it's issued whether i'm available or not will already be known. I know this is not an ideal situation but the only thing i can say with confidence is that whenever i am off work and can be there, i will.

Communication:

Yes, yes and yes

Computer / Connection:

Wired connection with no previous issues of disconnections or lag. Computer runs the game great, would love to tell you the specs but unfortunately that is not my area of expertise lol.

Addons/UI:

Bigwigs - Recently moved over to bigwigs from DBM due to the customisation for timing key mechanics during a fight, being able to add sound effects and countdowns have proved hugely beneficial when trying to focus on a rotation.
Details - More to monitor my own performance for example on Dausegne Hc last night i used it to compare the damage i was doing to the add that spawns (i've forgotten the name of it) in comparison with fellow raiders, realised i wasn't pulling my weight and made it a priority to change this for the rest of the night.
Plater - Unitframes that can be modified and adjusted if needed for fights, make it easier to spot adds and helped a lot while playing Affliction and monitoring dot timers.
Method raid tools - Was used by previous guild for CD timers but haven't used it since the release of Sepulcher.
Weakauras - Multiple weakauras inside this including pet reminders, SS reminders, combat time, imp tracker, tyrant damage and more just to help track certain things at a glance during a fight.
Zereth Mortis Puzzle Helper - Because i'm dumb.

All keybindings should be shown via the bars along the bottom of the screenshot, however i do have mouseover macros for things like gateway and SS which can't be seen.

Other Games:

I recently hit masters on TFT during set 6 which was a personal goal of mine.
Lost Ark and occasionally F12021

Why Iron Edge?

I am looking for a structured guild with plenty of activity and a friendly atmosphere. The website and wowprogress advert made me feel like Iron Edge has been a guild that has stuck together throughout multiple expansions and genuinely enjoy playing together.
With the previous two tiers i have hit 4/10M and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of coming up against the hardest bosses in the expansion, i believe we totalled up 150+ pulls on painsmith but that never deterred me personally and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, i would love to partake in this with Iron Edge and potentially see some of the very end bosses of mythic, and the challenge that comes with that.

What can I offer Iron Edge?

As a previously vocal member of my previous guild, helping the raid leader with callouts i am brilliant at communicating where needed.. equally i am also due to be married this year so i also know where to shut up! I am dedicated, watch streams/videos of relevant boss fights and strive to be friendly to everyone i encounter.
My time on the PC is a time to unwind and enjoy my time there, i understand a CE raiding team needs to know when to focus up and get on with the job at hand but having fun is the sole reason we pay the 15 quid, whether that's end game mythic content, M+ keys with a group of guildies or transmog runs and therefore i'll always be enthusiastic when dealing with fellow gamers and like to believe i have a fairly positive and mature outlook on life. I will be active where possible, prepared to raid and bring a positive attitude to each activity.

Where did I hear about Iron Edge?

Wowprogress while searching for a new guild.

Last Words?

Thanks for taking the time to read. I understand the attendance could prove to be an issue and is something i am being open about when talking to guilds as i want it to be the right move for both me and the guild involved, i am happy to talk with you about any issues you might have.

Hiyo Tarpzo,

I like your application, but the availability part could become a complication. What could this look like if you got a problematic shift, would you possibly be missing days, weeks or months of raiding at a time?

Hey thanks for the reply.

I guess the only real way to know is for me to look over my shift pattern and let you know how many raids i could attend within the next few months as a sample size maybe.

Between now and 9th May i'd be able to attend 10 of a possible 16 raids (3 Monday raids & 7 Thursday raids).

I would never be missing months of raiding at a time, there is a possibility for my shifts to fall terribly and possibly miss 2 weeks in a row, this hasn't happened yet and highly unlikely too but i'd be able to inform you guys well in advance if this was to occur as i do receive my shifts well in advance.

Hey again Tarpzo,

Thank you for clarifying. Unfortunately I don't think we would be able to accommodate for these kinds of absences, as having a stable roster is vital. I will have to decline your application, but I do wish you the best of luck in your search for a guild!  :)
