I think we should just go for it.

I'll be available from around 22-23 server time tonight on irc and ts. Will try to arrange for this civ4 nonsense.

Let's discuss how to do it yo

Neptune's Pride, a browser based space conquest game which can take up to a month, you don't all need to be online at the same time.  All you need is a Google account, and a supply of friends to backstab.

update:

Play by email civ 4 is the first thing we'll try.

It's very easy to set up, given people aren't retards.

What you need.

Civilization 4 - we'll negotiate version and expansions tonight, I'd like to suggest only the base game, and the latest patch, no idea what that one is.

Email account - this is important, you also need to know your smtp server for outgoing mails.

Dedication - yes, this'll be going on for weeks, or even months.

I think a good number of players to start with is 5-7, please reply if you're interested.

*raises hand* Sure, but I've only played a few games. I'm still pretty shit at it. Don't bully me and it'll be fine...!

Can always start with a small'ish map too, I guess.

Also, I don't have the commercial version -- I downloaded the big all-in-one pack. Don't know if I can patch it, or if it's the latest version, etc. I doubt PBEM really cares whether you are using a legit version, tho'!

I would like. Might need a hand getting the right one, and synced up properly.

I'm up for it, depending on times and if my downloaded version is compatible to yours.

Delling, it's fine if you make the same version available to everyone, just either give us a torrent link, or better yet, upload it if you have the bandwidth available.

My vanilla pirated copy of the game runs version 1.7.4
Have the patch file somewhere if needed, I think! EDIT: I don't D:
Also, I think I used THIS (btjunkie site) torrent when I downloaded it in a few hours. 2400/800 S/P I think.
I figured it's just as good getting a torrent with all the expansions as a vanilla one, as they should have many more seeds.

Ya, I am also using Civ Version 174. Save Version 103.

The all-in-one pack is good (3GB or so).

The torrent I used is private, so can't share it. Presume the all-in-one thing is probably from the same source tho'.
