Balance Druid A-Team Application
« on: November 24, 2010, 08:45:26 pm »
Personal Information:

-Name: Selim Doganalp (Male)
-Age: 31
Country: Turkey

Well what to say about myself. I work as a systems administrator at a pharmaceutical company. I live in Turkey but I have spent 8 years in the US. I came back a few years ago and I believe it would be safe to say my English is still satisfying.

Character Info:

-Name: Sedruid
-Armory:  http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Dunemaul&cn=Sedruid
-Class: Tauren Male
-Professions: Skinning / Leatherworking
-Spec: Balance / Resto

Druid is a fairly new class to me. I had always been a paladin ever since I started playing wow back in first days of TBC. I started my druid mainly to use it as a farmer, mining/herbalism, with the flight form. After a few patches in WOTLK and having tried it around a bit I started liking the class more. I had gained most of my gear as resto since it's easier to find raid spots as resto but I had always been in love with the balance spec. At the moment most of my current gear is still resto but it works quite well with balance as well. Even though I am new to the class I feel I play it better than I play my retired paladin.

The way I dps with a boomkin is fairly simple since there's a basic rotation; cast dots (moonfire, insect swar), use starsurge when off cd and spam starfire or wrath. Use the aoe spells when necessary. What I like to do that's not usually in any guide is that I sometimes keep myself in a certain eclipse state for it's buffs. For example if there's a lot trash coming up I keep myself in solar eclipse for the buff to nature dmg which increases hurricane. At other times I might keep myself at lunar eclipse for increased dmg to starfall and moonfire.

Raiding
I ready about raiding times which works for me quite well. I usually get home around 18:00 game time. On the weekdays I usually spend my time at home so raiding won't be a problem. Only one thing that might get in the way is my job. Since I work as a systems admin sometimes we end up working at night as well. If this happens I usually know beforehand and I'll let the necessary people know.

Gaming and World Of Warcraft history:

Gaming history...  Hmm... I started gaming back in the day with Quake II. That was the time I started working on my PC hardware as well. Soon after one of my friends at college introduced me to Diablo II. Which must have been my first seriously time consuming game experience. I had played that game for years without getting bored, I still do install and play it sometimes. =D After a little while I started playing Warcraft III and WC III Frozen Throne. Later on I heard about World of Warcraft. I hadn't started playing it right away I started playing around when TBC came out. It was such a great game that had everything I looked for in a game. I had been playing ever since. I did have certain breaks at times but generally I'm in game. I don't really play other games much sometimes I install and play fps games for a bit but they usually get boring soon and I get back to wow.

Why do you want to join Iron Edge?

There are several reasons I would like to join Iron Edge. The most important of all it is an English speaking guild. This may not be an important reason since Dunemaul is an English realm but I am surrounded by Turkish people at home and in game and I would like to speak as much as possible. Second would be I would like to be in a guild with serious raid progress.

What can I offer to Iron Edge?

Other than my dps and healing capabilities I can offer another friendly companion. I like to help out in any way I can to fellow guildmates. It could be with advice about my character, boosts for alt chars, professions or even with advice to personal problems.

Looking forward to hear from you

Good application. A few questions:

1. What's your internet connection like? Do you lag or disconnect a lot etc...?
2. What's your raiding experience in game?
3. Do you play any other games atm, HoN, SC2...?

Good luck with your application.

Internet connection is quite good. I don't get a lot of lag problems only sometimes. I rarely dc at all.
My raiding experience is mostly normal. KS on ICC 10, 10/12 on ICC 12
To be honest there's no other games I regularly play. I sometimes install new fps games like CoD or racing games like NFS. I usually play them for a few hours and get bored and get back to WOW.

Hey! Thanks for the app.

You lack experience to join an end-game raiding group.

How many days a week do you work nights?

Now I run a tech website.

Well I believe as long as I can play my character well the experience will come eventually. The important thing I believe is doing the necessary research as well as understanding tactics and putting it into action well enough. I don't do many pugs that's one of the reasons for my lack of experience.

As far as working at night my work schedule is 8am to 6pm and only time I work nights is if there's an emergency. For the last 2 years only 2 night I ended up going to work. I only wanted to mention it because I didn't want to be lying or keeping anything from you guys. I believe in being fully honest.

Unfortunately there's a difference between reading tactics and having the actual experience of raiding to back them up.  A big one.

As good as this application can look, as was pointed out above, there's a lack of raiding experience. It's not something you are just good at, you need the experience and we want to be awesome in Cataclysm I cant risk just playing around with people.
