Kryax - Warrior PVP Application
« on: January 26, 2011, 11:51:01 am »
Aloha Iron Edge, i apologise for the incoming wall of text spam, i believe if you are going to apply to a guild then more information is better than less. :)

About me:

My name is Rich "Oldman" Beresford, i am....wait for it....36 years young and still going strong. Born and raised in Bristol, England and now living in Wales I work for the Government Agency VOSA. My interests are Football, (Liverpool FC fan, not a happy time atm) Boxing and MMA, Formula 1, Mountain Biking and of course Gaming.

Gaming history:

I started gaming seriously in 1998 with Quake 2 (Grapple mod) online and at LAN and moved to Quake 3 just after it was released in 2000. I moved from Q3 to Counterstrike later in 2000 and quickly started competing at a decent level and in 2002 i was recruited to one of the UK top clans Choke. The pinnacle of our results was winning the 2005 UKIE lan finals in Macclesfield, finishing ahead of the UKs top teams including 4 Kings and G2XS in the final. For those of you who used to play cs or still do, our 1st movie is still in circulation - http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6527189178120262905#
After that the scene died a little and I moved to try my first MMO, Wow, early in 2005, around March if i remember from my old dunemaul.org registration lol.

About me in wow:

I'm a team player, my love of this game comes from working with others to succeed. I have all forms of comms and a mic and my pc and connection is very reliable. I do like to have fun on comms and a laugh, however I know when it's time to stfu, communicate effectively and focus. Despite the length of time I have been playing wow, I know I still have things to learn and improve upon, i accept criticism and blame when I make mistakes and I learn from them. PVP has always been important to me and I've always tried to fit in as much as possible alongside pve.

Char: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/dunemaul/kryax/simple
Spec: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/dunemaul/kryax/talent/primary

Wow history:

I started Wow as a Human Warrior (Kryax) on Dunemaul, played and stayed with TwentyFourSeven Guild for a long time, clearing MC in pve and hanging out in TM for our world pvp until WSG opened and I played premades for rank with the likes of Rave, Ryana, Cephalid, WickedMike and Holypala vs some great old names like Josefin, Cold, Mulli , Devlin and many others.

When 24/7 sadly started to have problems, i joined Fate (made up from 24/7 and Guardians of Freedom) and we went on to clear BWL prior to AQ and i continued playing premades for Rank 14 when AB arrived, playing in Triumvirates Team with Pharax, Drovana, Grimmy, Ariela n co. It was an epic time for premades vs IE, BR, Ravenous etc very happy days, regularly killing Delling is always fun....Doubt that'll happen again, especially once 4.0.6 is released.
Took a break from wow when AQ patch came, just short of Rank 14 and i came back a couple of weeks into TBC only to find many of my friends had moved to Tarren Mill. Dunemaul has always been my home so I decided to roll Horde after I noticed a lot of the old Horde faces were still here and a couple of them persuaded me on dunemaul.org to re-roll, thx Dell.

Started my own Guild (Blacklight) as GM, RL & MT and cleared SSC and TK, squeezing in as much pvp as I could, arena wasn't premade BGs it was very different and I didn't have the time back then to give it the dedication it needed so never exceeded 1900 and only played 2s & 3s, Warr/Pala & Warr/Shammy/Mage.

WOTLK came out and I eventually found myself in Eminence, late night raiding Guild. PVE was my main focus as always but i started picking up my arena activity, although always with friends and guildies so I limited my options in partners but always had alot of fun. In S8 i decided to focus a little more on arenas than pve and started playing over 2.2k in 3s keeping 2s for fun but played very little 5s due to not finding a team where the whole team was online, a common problem in a pve only guild. Did play with a Priest in 2s to help him get his gear but as a rule I just love the warr/pala setup and in 3s for s8 i played TSG, wiz and spell cleaves last season almost bought me to tears. Me and bombibaby lost our DK near the end of s8 and played out the rest of the season with pewpew, I'm ashamed to say as double healer lol but I must admit the few games we played, were for me, alot of fun.
Cata is here and i'm still  in Eminence but I have now decided that my focus is purely PVP and i recently informed my GM (Ninjakoe) that I was dropping from the raid team to focus on PVP. Honesty is always the best policy and they all know I have always loved PVP more than PVE and I made it clear that I would actively seek a Guild with a dedicated PVP team because I want to be involved in RBGs, push my arena experience up and play with like minded people. They are fine with my decision and have told me there's always a place open for me. It hasn't been a decision i've made overnight, i've taken a couple of months to mull it over and considered Eminence and my friends there as well as my own interests before I finally made up my mind. With RBGs I think there is more attention to PvP again, we're seeing more PvP guilds being made and it seems like the perfect time to make a more permanent switch from PvE to PvP.

Additional comments:

I have a great relationship with Eminence, my time there has been fantastic and it's been a pleasure to play alongside them. I'm sure if you need to ask Ninjakoe (warrior main now, Ninjanewb) or Griearth for recommendations they'll give them.

Why Iron Edge? I believe if I am going to change my focus from PVE back to PVP fully and look for a PVP team then I'd like to look for one that is focused on success, has a great community and familiar faces. Another point for me would be just because I have played wow for so long and a warrior for that whole time, does not mean I have nothing to learn, far from it, I have much to learn so learning from some of the best players on the Server makes alot of sense to me.
IE have a lot of familiar faces in, a number I have played against back in vanilla. I also play alot with Rykka atm and have played a bit with Locknezz as well, both great guys and both promote IE with a great deal of positive points. I've also started playing RBGs in Helmahs team, it's been alot of fun, it's been challenging and i've met some great guys, it feels alot like it used to. Accurate early calls on vent and adjusting strats as the match develops. for me, makes RBG's alot of fun.

Apologies again for the wall of spam, Thankyou for taking the time to read my app and regardless of the outcome, I wish you all the best with your goals.

Rich aka Kryax aka Old Bastard.

Me and Kryax's cs teams used to hate each other, it was an awesome rivalry! We used to meet in tournaments and all sorts of things, it was awesome haha. :)

Excellent application, *thumbs up*. Also massive influx of PvP applications recently, second/third RBG team time? Yes, yes?

tldr!

Joking ofc, awesome application man, you included pretty much everything a future guild needs to know about you at start and really took some effort in writing it.
Didn't play anything with you so far but I guess that's gonna change soon, your nick is quite familiar to me, not sure from where.

Anyway all the best, good luck with the application and hopefully see you soon on /g

I played abit with him in rBg. He hits like a fucking train.

Even tho ..

His Application is great, and would be really nice to have another main.melee dps in the Pvp-hood!!
+ We need some active players :D ..

= Could be fantastic to get 2x 15.Man rated teams up. With great players.

________

But i have some questions.

Do you have any experince in arena? .. if so, what is the highest you become?
What is your currently rated BG raiting?

Thanks again for the replies guys.

Hey mutli m8, i popped my arena exp in my app. I see I did leave out my current RBGs rating which is only 522 because i only started them last weekend. However I played premade BGs throughout lvl 60 up to rank 13 and am very familiar with playing to strict instructions and tactics, adapting in game and making quick decisions where needed.
I also communicate quickly and clearly on comms and call for assist on my target if no one else is calling. I do also appreciate that RBGs are slightly different to our old premade ABs and WSGs from back in the day at lvl 60 with there being a greater deal of competition at a higher level these days.
