I've still never seen a 3D movie... and I haven't watched an HP movie since #4 I think. But maybe I should watch this one!

You'd be doing the movie a great injustice, and you won't enjoy it half as much as you should! Watch the first movies, and read the last book plox! Then you're ready!

I read all the books up to the half blood prince, then I just couldn't find time for reading. Is it worth reading the last books before seeing the last movie or can the books wait?

Also, as Archz said many of us grew up with these movies, we were at (or close to) the same stages in life that they were in the movie and it just sort of stuck. I'm not sure if that makes sense or not but it's all I got  :P And if you're a proper fanboi you should try to find a replay or something of the trafalgar square event. I only saw bits and pieces and the final speech they all did and it was heart touching. No tears tho, aint homo.

Definately worth reading the last few books as well, even though they get better at putting more of the books in the movies, theres a lot of cool stuff you'll never see in the movies, which happen in the books!

This was quite underwhelming, bordering to boring. I assume you have to be a HP fan/know all the movies/books in order to appreciate it (I only saw 3 or 4 movies on TV while niece-sitting, so didn't really pay attention), as they mostly seem to tidy up the plots from previous installments?

Also, this film is so fricking dark, combined with 3D which darkens the image even more, a lot of times one could hardly see shit. I also found that gritty look rather dull than "hot".
And, to finally show off my complete HP noobness, so, what was all the fuss about, was S.... the f.... of HP?
Edit: Oh right, we have spoiler tags!

I agree that it was not quite what it was hyped to be but the harry potter films are really one story and you cant skip movies or books in the middle.

I only saw the movies and I did need help from my HP-fan wife to get some of the details

Bears like alts!

To be fair it makes no sense to watch the seventh movie without knowing the story from the first six books. The plot is so tangled at this point that you really cannot watch this without knowing much of what has gone ahead.

The thing is that the books are so long in the end that tying it all into a movie is really hard, which sadly shows in the storytelling.
