Warlock (Casual?) Raider Application[declined]
« on: November 14, 2011, 03:52:17 pm »
Greetings!

Howdy there folks, the name's Khazidea, but everyone just calls me Dey(lana) no matter what I play or where I play it, so I'm gonna go with that.

Before I begin with the application proper, I shall be completely honest and inform you that this is only my horde-side main. I currently raid semi-hardcore on my alliance main, but I have plenty of time for it to not interfere with what I understand to be your raiding days. I shall list the times I am available at further down either way.

Personal Information

My real name's Alex, I'm 21 (22 in a couple of months), male, and I live in Bucharest, Romania. I'm studying Law at the moment, 3rd year, and teaching English at the same time. I'm a rather laid back kind of person, who likes to take their time with things and ejoy themselves whenever possible.

Character Information

I shall start you off with an link to my character's armory.

As you can see, I'm an affliction warlock with half-decent gear, though currently no professions to speak of. The link may show a couple of out-of-date or missing enchants which I am in the process of fixing as I'm writing this (chest and bracer). Also, you may notice a couple of int/hit gems that traditionally should not be there, however being very, very close to the hit cap I decided to go for them where socket bonuses permitted.

I shall include my raiding experience here, though it is not all on this character mind you.

Vanilla:

Onyxia, Zul'Gurub, about half of Molten Core.

Burning Crusade:

Karazhan, about half of SSC, Void Reaver in TK, Zul'Aman, Gruul's Lair, Magtheridon's Lair.

Wrath of the Lich King:

Naxxrammas 10 and 25 cleared, Ulduar cleared with everything but Yogg'saron on hard mode and no Algalon unfortunately (I was leading one of the top 3 10 man groups on the realm while the content was live, we got alliance first, server 3rd General Vezax hardmode and server first Champion of Ulduar),  ToC cleared on heroic on 10 man (with tribute to insanity), 4/5hc on 25 man and 11/12 ICC 10 and 25 heroic, again leading a very successful 10 man during ICC, I believe we got to heroic LK when the buff was 10 or 15%, but unfortunately lost a few people then and the group sort of fell apart.

Cataclysm:

Tier 11 everything but Nefarian, Sinestra and Twilight Council on Heroic 10 man, everything but the previous and Cho'gall on heroic 25 man.
Tier 12 6/7 heroic 10 man, 5/7 heroic 25 man and 5/7 heroic 10 man on alts. I have also seen the first 3 phases of the Raggy heroic fight, but we never really had the time to put the proper number of days into it. I can give you more details on request, but it's a little complicated.

Raiding

I shall list the days and hours I can raid at and you can consider them at your leisure:

Wednesday: 23:30 to 04:00
Thursday: 23:30 to 04:00
Friday: the whole day and night
Saturday: I am usually out Saturday, but in case of raids, I can be home during the evening until 04:00
Sunday: 23:30 to 04:00
Monday: the whole day and night
Tuesday: the whole day and night

Gaming and World of Warcraft History

I have been a semi-serious gamer for most of my life. I've been playing computer games since about..1998, roughly. I've not actually been a competitive computer gamer for any of this time, because as I said above, I prefer to take my time and enjoy things. I have however, as you might guess, a very long history of playing computer games :P If you're interested for whatever reason, you can inquire further!

As for WoW, I started playing mid vanilla, finished leveling around two months before Burning Crusade hit, which is why my raiding experience during that time is lacking. I then proceeded to play during Burning Crusade, however until very late BC my computer could not handle 25 man raids, so I was stuck to 10 mans. Eventually I got into some casual 25 man raiding on my mage and resto druid. When Wrath hit I could finally raid semi-competitively and managed to get together a few competent friends for some 10 man action. I know most people do not view 10 man as a valid raiding environment, but that was all I had back then, and we had A LOT of fun with it :) My experience throughout the expansion is listed above. During Cataclysm, not much changed from Wrath, we continued to run 10 mans, with our alts this time, generally downing bosses before our 25 man had the chance to even try them, until we eventually hit a dead end due to simply not enough time and schedule differences during the week to dedicate to our alts. Again, should you like more information about this, I will be happy to provide it. As for my horde character, Khazidea, I slowly started to love it, and decided to try some raiding. Unfortunately, the guild I ended up in, Synergy, suffered an unfortunate incident which pretty much left it dead in the water. I am only in the guild currently due to some guild repairs and guild perks.

Why I want to join Iron Edge

Well, for one, I've known about you guys since vanilla. I was an active member of Dunemaul.org and would always hear about Iron Edge one way or another. Back then however, we couldn't have both alliance and horde chars, and I never got the chance to meet any of you except during random skirmishes in the game world. Either way, I'm dragging on, the point is there must be something nice about these guys, I thought to myself, and then decided to have a look at your forum one day. I saw how much emphasis you put on community and cohesion, and decided why not ask around, have a go at an application maybe? I like my horde character quite a lot, and I love raiding, but most of all I like doing it with a fun bunch. I've had the opportunity in the past to get into a lot better guilds with my shaman, but I prefer to stick around with friends or people that I really enjoy hanging out with. Even if my application may seem a little stiff, rest assured I will grow on you quickly, given the chance :) I'm not entirely sure what else to say, so I'll say again, ask me if there's anything else you'd like to know!

What I can offer to you

A team player, with decent leadership skills, with good experience in every role and more than adequate knowledge of the game. Business aside, I can also offer you a person that thrives in a good-quality social environment, and that's generally pleasant to be around.

Last words

What more is there to say? I am hoping you will understand I am not the kind of person who's looking for someone to boost their alt. I want to work for a raid spot, I am applying with decent gear and good experience, but I am not willing to give up my friends and my guild on Alliance side. I am confident I can balance both, and with Real ID now out, the gap between factions is smaller and smaller. I am also very loyal. Should you decide to offer me a spot, you will find I won't be going anywhere for a long time. Almost every guild I've been in (and there haven't been many), I've stuck with until the bitter end or the point where we simply could not reconcile.

With that being said, should you not have a spot for me as a raider in any of your raid groups, I would be thrilled to be part of your community as a social. Perhaps you might sometimes need a last spot for an alt run, and perhaps I will be around :)

Hi there and thanks for applying. You have written a very nice application and you you have the experience to join our crew.

But your character doesnt have maxe proffesions, you are missing glyphs/enchants and its not your main. Also you cant make mondays, that would leave you at tops with 50% attandance wich is to low.

I got a better idea, drop method of madness and tranfser your shaman here instead :)

He can raid on monday, it's thursday that is the problem.

No matter how good an app/player anyone is we don't want player that can only join for 50% of the raids in the best case scenario.

I understood you guys have at least one team that raids Mondays and Tuesdays? Or did I mistake Tuesday for Thursday?

As for the proffessions, I would actually spend the time to max them or at least raise them enough for the bonuses, if I had a good reason to (such as getting in for a raiding spot).

Which glyphs am I missing? I was under the impression I had all the important ones o_O As for the enchants, I've already got the mats ready, just couldn't seem to find an enchanter this afternoon.

And lastly, I'm afraid I couldn't leave Methods of Madness and my friends on alliance, not just when we've started to pick up from a streak of terrible luck :)

And, again, if all else fails, I would be thrilled to have a social position as well!

I like this apply. And you seem like a decent guy.

(Also the comment about you missing a glyph probably wasn't meant that you're missing a important one, only that you're actually missing one.)

And seeing you apperently want a social rank in the guild, if not being accepted as a raider. You don't seem to actually know anyone in the guild, just the guild in general?

I'm sure the raid could use someone like you. But the fact that this isn't your main, and you don't seem to "have a reason" to even get professions. I don't know if it would be enough.

But I'm not the one to decide, just my opinion. Goodluck though :)

I don't actually know anyone in the guild indeed, I know -of- a few people and -of- the guild itself. But with the kind of recruitment standards you guys impose, it must be a place full of decent human beings, unlike most people I run into.

My lack of a reason to level my professions is simply laziness, I've not raided anything important on it so far, and transferring mats from alliance one stack at a time is a bit of a pain :D But again, given a good reason for it, I would definitely take the time to power-level them.

Thank you for the positive feedback!

I liked your app, but there are the few points that make this impossible, if I understand you correctly.
You can only raid monday and not thursday which means you cant raid with us.
You still play on your main in another guild, that is also a definitive no.
If you can fix those two points we can discuss the rest.

Bears like alts!

Very well, it sounds like, unfortunately, we can't raid together then :(

What then would you say to a social spot?

You look like a smart, mature, honest person. And people of IE appreciate that kind of values. But in the end,
As Safire stated there, i don't believe you would be much of a social player unless you spend more of your time with iron edge. And you don't know anyone from the guild either. The social status does not suit well it seems. Neither does the raider status with your attendance level.

Having you in iron edge is like having a delicious cake in the table, but not eating it. Marrying the cutest girl but not having sex with her.

Yep, not too interested in someone who spends the majority of their time in another guild.

Thanks for the app -- it was great!

G'luck.
