@ Yoica - I'll help you out in the kitchen then and contribute to the ingredients, maybe make a big batch of pasta or spaghetti or something? Not a fan of eating pizza every day either.

@ Delling - Been reading the forums, fine with everything you've said, just been a bit inactive looking for jobs etc. now that university has finished.

Right.

Well if you have quite finished discussing which foodstuff is called what, can we get back to the relevant questions that were asked, and will have an effect on Edgefest, but which have once again gotten overlooked in the trivial bullshit.

@ Nach. If no one else has a decent spare rig, I may still have my old one which you could use. It has been sitting in storage for about 3-4 years, so I don't know what condition it is, but if you want I could check. Likely it you would need to bring your own mouse, games, etc, and the screen with it was about 17" (Though Dell mentioned earlier he may have a spare). Its not brilliant spec-wise, but it should do the job if you can't borrow a better one. Let me know if you want me to go and take it out of storage and check it out.

@ Bison. So I may have asked this before, but since then Cwave and Tyler have passed on Edgefest, Do you have room for me in your tent? Are you assuming people are fitting in the "middle area" between the pods/divisions? I only ask this because the ground is already waterlogged, and its likely to not stop raining till the end of Edgefest, so that area might not be the driest on the day :P.

@ everyone else. Who else is bringing tents? Are there spaces?

How are you getting down to delling's from London, and when will you go?

@Hugpants

Anything at all would be appreciated.
In fact, the more fun LAN's I've been at has been when people brought their spares and the rest halfdedicated themselves to playing games of the same era as the shittiest computer (Might and Magic rage has caused alot of screen breakage).

Screen will be a bitch for me to bring, but I can do keyboard + mouse!

Yeah I was going to ask that too, I have them on steam. I guess if we are using cracks we all need to use the cracked version?

Btw Star, I work up in London, I live down in the South (about 20mins from Sebastian's) so I am not coming from London. Don't have a car, so I can't give you a lift sorry.

I have Friday off work, so I am helping Sebastian and Palmar do set ups.

I guess the easiest way for you is getting a train to Three Bridges Station and coordinating with the other guys who will be arriving there, and sharing a taxi.

Forged Alliance is fine. We will patch and crack it. Everyone should start with the Reloaded ISO that I linked on some previous page.

Star -- Hugman lives near me. Works in London. Don't rely on him for transport.

Btw, anyone else in the UK still interested in coming? Abyss, Shankski, etc?
Now I run a tech website.

More things to do, before you arrive:

Disable Dropbox, Backblaze, Google Drive, etc.

Again, please run a virus scan.

Please disable any non-password-protected Samba (Windows) folder shares.

Basically, we're gonna have like 10-15 computers on 2mbps upload. That's really pushing it, especially in today's environment.

This means everyone needs to be very aware of what they're doing on the network and how much bandwidth, especially upload, they're consuming.

All the things Delling mentioned are good. You can disable them from starting up from msconfig.exe. Just have a look at what your computer starts when you boot into windows and disable shit that's not required.

Update your anti-virus thing before you come, don't try to do it during the lan. Disable automatic updates too, you can turn those on when you're back home.

The output of this command: netstat -n -p tcp -b

Run in an administrator command prompt should tell you what programs you have running that are using tcp atm. Close all browser windows and let your sessions die, then run it. The results should be very few lines (5-20). This should also tell you the name of the processes using tcp. If anyone for example has that goddamned pando media booster (used to install lotro, lol and more) running in the background, we're fucked.

And I will find you and disconnect you.

For all intents and purposes, you're not meant to access the internet much at all outside of the games we'll be playing. Sure, a browser window with your gmail or something is probably fine, but don't stack 20 tabs that might even be running scripts or grabbing flash ads that refresh etc.

Disable your extensions in your browsers too.

IRC/simple browser windows/tiny clients should be ok. Obnoxious clients aren't. Unless you really need something, you should probably turn it off.

Get your steam games and downloads now. Patch all your games, blizzard and steam. If you intend to play it, it needs to be ready when you come.

Another thing people may forget you should add to the list is your battle net authenticators, for Diablo 3.

I'm 1 hour away from finishing up this second to last workday before my ~3.5 weeks summer holidays.

The first thing I'll do is have an excellent dinner with GerĂ°ur tomorrow night, then I'll go early to bed to wake up and fly to England to play video games.

Fuck yeah, I am excite.

Trolls are awesome!
