Casemodding a computer into a selfbuild desk
« on: August 29, 2012, 06:57:35 pm »
So, I got my boss to sign off on giving me money to build a desk + pc where our recruits take their assessment tests on before the get to go meet our HR department.
At the moment, its a grey desk where happiness goes to die.

So, I want to build a wooden desk from reused scaffolding wood + a glass top.
The actual PC going in is part 2 of the project. I bought the cases for a hdd, cd and a mounting metalthing for motherboards so I can already build the desk without having the entire PC ready to go.

So far, idea is this what you see below. We have quite some wooden things at the office so the wood part has to stay in the design. Any tips, remarks, pointers or harsh, soul cutting advice is more then welcome!

Looks pretty awesome. What about ventilation for the PC?

The two black rectangles at the front are lian li 5.25 grills, one with a cd opening for a slim size cd players and the other one to let the air in for the fan placed behind it.

Ill place a fan at the back to blow hot air out.
Hope that will be enough.

Most important thing imo is to make it easy to replace it with a new mb etc. since it seems the case will not be something you replace often.

Also make sure its easy to connect stuff like monitors and usb things.

Bears like alts!
