Raider Application - Warrior (Tank) - Pingenwar
« on: March 09, 2017, 04:49:18 pm »
Hello, Iron Edge!

I am applying for the main raid.

Character: Pingenwar
Armory: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/Kazzak/Pingenwar/advanced
Class/Spec: Warrior (Tank)
Member Type: raider

Personal Info:

Name: Shakir Husain
Age: 26
Location: Stockholm, Sweden

Class/Spec:

My main is a Prot Warrior. I have played this character since WotLK and I have found it to be the most fun tank of them all. I have thoroughly played all tanks, including demon hunters in legion, and found that warriors are still the most fun to play because of all the micro management.

ilvl: 904 equipped
Artifact trait
Protection: 54 - All bis legendaries
Fury: 54 - no legendaries
Arms: 38 - no legendaries

For protection warrior, Haste is a dominant stat where a haste cap is required to keep up Shield Block. Soft haste cap pre-7.1.5 was at 25% but with all the changes, it is not at 30% haste. However, being around 28% haste is not bad, but some more micro management is needed to have full Shield Block uptime while tanking. Mastery is the second go-to stat because it double-dips into survivability and attack power (offensive and defensive stat) but many tanks go for versatility. I prefer Mastery as my second stat as my playstyle suits it better. Also, I think that you cannot get enough versatility given the stats on different items to get enough haste/mastery and versatility.

Shield Block also increased dmg done by Shield Slam, so if you are in a position where you could use SB while not tanking to increase the DPS on tight-enrage bosses, you should do that. The Hands legendary further increases dmg by rage generation but you have to weave in a devastate (unless devastator talent is taken) for every SS or TC cast.

Ignore Pain is our main mitigation ability, where it absords spells, however it does not count as an "Active Mitigation" by blizzards standards, so abilities which make something extra happen (e.g. knockback on NL last boss), you have to use SB to nullify that. That being said, IP is probably the spell a prot warrior uses most in order to reduce incoming damage.

For the rotation/priority system, a TL;DR version:
Use SB when tanking/dmg output, weave in devastate (if not devastator) for every SS/TC cast, always use SS as soon as its up, depending on dmg taken (among others); only use revenge when it proccs and is free.

And then obviously get as many IPs as possible if your DTPS is too high.

Alts:

Main alt:
Beast Mastery Hunter, ilvl 895, one relevant legendaries, trait lvl 52.

Secondary alts:
Shadow Priest, ilvl 892, no relevant legendaries, trait lvl 43-ish
Protection Paladin, ilvl 882, two relevant legendaries, trait lvl 34-ish.
Vengance Demon Hunter, ilvl 877, two relevant legendaries, trait lvl 35-ish.

Professions:

Alchemy, because of potions and flasks. Bonus that it lasts for 2 hours. No special recipees.
Engineering, because of utilites, and Jeeves. Also, since I am mostly doing Mythic Keystones and pushing it, the frag belt is extra handy in CCs.

Raiding Experience:

Raiding:

TBC:
Gruul's Lair: 2/2
Black Temple: 7/9 after 30% nerf.
Karazhan: 10/10
Magtheridon's Lair: 1/1
Mount Hyjal: 3/5

WotLK:
Naxxramas: 15/15
Eye of Eternity: 1/1
Obisidum Sanctum: 1/1
Ulduar: 14/14, HM pre-nerf: 12/14
Trial of the Grand Crusader: 5/5 HC
Icecrown Citadel: 11/12 HC pre-nerf.
Ruby Sanctum: 1/1 Normal

I took a break after this because the guild fell apart.

Cataclysm:
Dragon Soul: 8/8 Normal. 1/8 Heroic.

Not much raiding experience because of the break, therefore I tried to pug a lot. After a point, pugs were not sufficient and no guild wanted an inexperienced tank for this expansion, I took another break.

MoP:
Siege of Orgrimmar: 14/14 Heroic (Pre-Mythic)

I came back at the beginning of SoO release.

WoD:
Highmaul: 6/7 Mythic
Blackrock Foundry: 9/10 Heroic

At this point, I was forced to take a break because I was writing my Master's Thesis and my partner just started a new job, so I was writing the thesis during the evenings when the raidtimes were. I started again when HFC came out to gear myself up in preparation for Legion.

Hellfire Citadel: 13/13 HC.

Legion:
No proper raiding experience in Legion because I have solely been focusing on Mythic Keystones and getting the Keystone Master achievement, which was achieved pre-2017. According to wowprogress, I am currently #2 protection warrior in Kazzak for keystones, but #1 warrior tank in doing them on time.

Emerald Nightmare: 7/7 HC
Trials of Valor: 3/3 HC
Nighthold: 10/10 HC

PVP:
All throughout the expansions I have been lingering around 1800 elo, but have had no one to push with. My highest rating was 1999 elo. (Yes I know -.- 1 from 2k!, lost 10 in a row afterwards and my partner decided to quit. Sad.)

Previous Guilds:

I cannnot remember the name of my first guild, but that was what we progressed on in TBC and early WotLK. I left the guild because of a disband.

Solidarity - Left at the end of WotLK because the guild split into two and fell apart.
V o t H - Ended up at V o t H where we progressed through Siege of Orgrimmar and got to 13/14 Heroic (Pre-Mythicc) and the Guildmaster and her friend were holding us back for the Garrosh. This was spoken about for probably months and hardly any adjustments were made.
Missive - Created the guild with a couple of guildmates from V o t H but it died during HFC.

Irong Edge - Member for the Weekend Raider, and would like to get into the main raids on my main.

Availability:

I am always on unless I have any meetings of any sort since i am unemployed and currently looking for a job. My "daily routine" has been coming on wow at around 15.00-17.00 and play until 03.00-05.00 depending on meetings and availability of players around me.

Communication:

I am proficient in English and would rank it higher than both my Swedish (country language) and my native language. I am constantly on teamspeak that I own and always communicate throughout the usage of TS. I was the Raidleader and GM of Missive, raidleader of V o t H and am the one shotcalling our higher keystone runs.

Computer / Connection:

Processor: i5, 3.20 GHz
Ram: 8 GB
Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 760

I have a decent computer that works for wow without any problems with no fps issues. I do not have a high ping and do not disconnect randomly.

Speed test: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/6116187931

Addons/UI:

Elvui: Use it for the interface and have been using it since Cataclysm because I think it is smooth and allows me to see everything better than the standard UI.

Deadly Boss Mods: To track the incoming abilities.

Angry Assignments: Used it for notes on interrupts etc. on progression.

MikScrollingBattleText: Use it for smoother outlines of incoming and outcoming effects. Easier for me track what's happening to me.

oRA3: Tracking parties/raids cooldowns to call for when I was a raidleader.

RSA - Raeli's Spell Announcer: For my party to know when I have interrupted, healers to know when I have used a major CD etc. I am also calling this out in TS when I am about to or have used my CDs/CCs.

TellMeWhen: To have a better look at my available CDs and buffs.

---

For Keystones I also run:

Angry Keystones: to check the exact % left and for faster runs. (e.g. clicking once in CoS instead of twice at the beginning or on buffs).

Keystone Booster: To list all the keys I get whispered so I do not have to scroll my chat all the time.

--

Old Screenshot of UI, but haven't changed it since then: http://imgur.com/a/8ntWE

Other Games:

I have finished a couple of games but the ones I am continuing on are:
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Final Fantasy XV
FIFA (version does not matter)
Overwatch
Diablo 3 (time to time)
League of Legends (rarely)

Why Iron Edge?

I am a member of Iron Edge, and am applying to the main raid for higher progression.

What can I offer Iron Edge?

A stable tank with a lot of knowledge of the game in general.

Where did I hear about Iron Edge?

I am already a member and I heard from Ploppers that one of your main tanks were taking a break.

Last Words?

I have been playing with a bunch of people from IE and that would probably be able to vouch for me.

Ploppers, Alzaroth, Archrage, Quickzor, Bendie, Armstrup, Xorm.

Hopefully i'll be tanking main raids in the near future!

I am glad to see Pingenwar make an application to the main raid.  I would ha e expected him to put my name down as a person who would vouch for him, but I feel it is right for me to do so even without his expectation.

I have not been in a raid with Pingen although I have been in various mythic plus dungeons with him.  If his performance in these instances is anything to go by he would be a valuable asset to the raiding team.

As a player I have found Pingen to be vocal, tactically aware, positionally excellent to allow melee to do their job, fast to 're.to a situation and very adaptable should something go wrong.  I feel that his dedication to push mythic plus to the highest level on our server indicates his desire to achieve the best he possibly can within the game.

On a personal note I must convey thanks to Pingen for passing me a much needed trinket from Halls of Valour mythic plus.  He, Bendie, Ploppers, Quickzor, Alan and Arch have helped me to run a horribly long instance many times in order to help me get the trinket, something that is rare in warcraft, the giving of your own time to help another without any benefit to yourself.

I would be happy for Pingen to be in the raid, great addition

Thanks Tutan! Yes if I remembered everyone I would've put everyone down! I needed to make the application fast because I had a gun to my head by Ploppers, so I just put down the people that were in the highest mythic plus dungeons we have done lately! Sorry to have left you out! Seems like I didn't just forget Vejeta :<

This little twat is annoying and opinionated. He keeps calling out stuff and sorts out CC and interrupts during fights which is really distracting when i'm trying to push numbers. He is very vocal BUT, he is swedish. We can't have it all. Iv spent some time with this little nugget on late nights with hot and steamy conversations. He is not afraid to take it to the next level.
He seems like an overall really good twat, which is why i like him.
That being said i hope this goes well, he will be a good addition to the Irong Edge raid team.

Can vouch for this bellend! Very vocal and a good leader, would be a great asset in the raid.

We can probably contribute many of the Iron Edge names being on the server front page for Keystone to Pingen (and a tiny bit to Ploppers) <3

Oh man, someone's popular!

Final decision on this rests with Shimmar. I think I can speak for everyone that we all believe you are more than qualified for this raid, as we thought you were when you initially applied but we didn't have a spot.

That being said, if we accept you and Kensan comes back from his break, we'll have 4 tanks on the roster by default. Which means we have to either accept that as a reality, or some of you tanks have to become more flexible in taking on other roles on the side.

So yeah, good luck with this one Sam!

Thank you Rash,

Hello Pingenwar...
I enjoyed reading your application. You are, without doubt, a Tank worthy of a spot in the raid group. I suppose you could say you have somehow proven yourself through the extremely excessive amount of High level M+ you do, but let's be honest, they're easy! *triggers Bendie to high heaven*.
I know warriors to have strong output and to be decent tanks overall so it would be a shame to pass on this opportunity. You're vocal, "good leader" which is certainly a good trait to have as a Tank as it's the least active role so you can get a good overview of the fight that others are perhaps too busy to do.
If I was to base it on these points, it's a no-brainer. However, As Rash pointed out, there will be 4 tanks on the roster at some point in the future if you were to be accepted. That means if we were going to be fair, 4 hours of raiding per tank. Obviously that won't always be the case because certain tanks are better for certain bosses. E.g. I'd say that using our current tactic, i'm quite neccessary for Chronomatic anomoly. Granted it's farm content, but that's just an example.
Anyway, my point is that during progress, there could be a time where you spend most of a raids duration on the bench, but then other raids where you may be in for the entire night.

If you're happy with that type of situation, You have my approval.
